Some winter pics
Yes, I know I haven't posted in a while. I am not worthy of the name blogger anymore. I guess one of the reasons is that this blog came to exist because I wanted to write about our new experiences and adventures here. But after 2,5 years of living here, most things don't seem that new anymore. We've settled in, we're part of the gang, we're part of Montreal's urban landscape now. It's kinda life as usual ... and I guess I think it's boring to write about the little things (read: I lack the editorial skills to turn those insignificant things into a real story). Another reason is my recent twitter addiction (forget about fb, that's so last year ... find me on http://twitter.com/estilker). But I guess the real reason is that I'm just good ol' lazy, I read the slacker's bible.
Maybe winter had something to do with it and while Tinneke was in Belgium I kept myself busy with everything except blogging. With Summer around the corner (we kinda jump from Winter straight to Summer, Spring is like Le Trou Normand, something in between to cleanse the palate) we are allowed one peek back at the past. And I won't feel any guilt about gloating over my next BBQ (next week I am making tandoori chicken on the barbie for my 30th B-day Bollywood party) because we survived another -40C Winter (our 3d already!)
The week before Tinneke left, we went to Mont St. Laurier in Les Hautes Laurentides. Most people don't get past Mont-Tremblant but we went on for another hour north for some crosscountry skiing, locally produced food and a relaxing sauna and a 'swim' in an ice cold river.
Tinneke giving skiing another try (last time I think)
Me demonstrating an experimental new technique
The view from our chalet upon the frozen Devil river (La rivière du Diable)
There was a husky dog kennel behind our chalet (kinda smelly and loud)
Horsies too!
Giddyup!
Covered bridges over the river.
Walking over the frozen river to snap shots. You hear cracking noises all the time, scary!
