a world without internet

PRIMUS, my isp, is messing things up .... messing things up badly! No Internet Thursday (but it sometimes goes away), Friday still the same. Called the support center, spent 1,5h (!) on hold, finally to reset my password. Piece of cake. Saturday morning again no Internet. Back on the phone, again on hold for 1,5h. Then I get some moron who doesn't know anything at all and is just reading from his scripts. Ok, it's not the guy's fault, but I have no Internet. I am the client. I pay his salary. Anyway, the guy knows nothing, he's just following his script, finally he's not able to fix the problem, and is sending it off to second line help. Meaning, no Internet Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday .... until they call me they've found the solution? Or that they have NOT found the solution and need to make a housecall. Anyways, realistic me, I know I am not having Internet this week ... maybe even next week.
And I have to say, it's very weird living without the WWW. I feel lost, vulnerable, lost my window unto the world. Don't have emails at home, online radio, I feel ignorant, illiterate, dumb ... How the hell did I ever live without Internet? And then I realize: not everyone in the world has Internet, or a MAC, or a house, or a job, or warm in Winter, health, or doesn't get killed in the streets. So, maybe this a good resourcing exercise. Bring back some humbleness and respect in my life for the little things.
Luckily there's Internet at work. So I guess someone still likes me up there :-)

Funny thing I heard my neighbor (very big dEUS fan) say about the weather: "It's rather warm outside." Tinneke: "What is rather warm?" He: "Not minus 20". But it's true, we had some plus double digit temperatures last week, but this morning it was back into a freezing cold snow storm.
